【IACBE】Delegates from Wright Graduate University Visits Guangzhou College of SCUT

      GCU, September 6, 2019: Delegates from IACBEmember Wright Graduate University, USA — Dr. Robert Wright,founder, board member and CEO, and Dr. Phillip Blue, Professor ofApplied Neuroscience visited Guangzhou College of South ChinaUniversity of Technology on September 5. Professor Ying Lin, VicePresident of GCU, and Professor Liguang Wu, Dean of InternationalBusiness School & Director of International Office met thedelegates in Administration Building.

 


 

       Prof.Ying Lin expressed her warm welcome to the delegation, introducingthat GCU has achieved many results in the aspects of studentcultivation, program development, scientific research, socialservices, academic contests, innovation and entrepreneurship, etc. inrecent years with the mission of cultivating application-orientedtalents. Since the IACBE accreditation application initiated in 2013,there are now 11 GCU business program accredited by the IACBE,covering School of Management, School of Economics and InternationalBusiness School, and GCU is proud to be the first university in Chinawith IACBE-accredited programs.

 

       Welcomingthe delegation of Wright Graduate University, she added that it hasbeen a great pleasure to network with IACBE member in North Americathrough the introduction of Dr. Phyllis Okrepkie, President of theIACBE. She hoped that both universities can deepen mutualunderstanding, look for common grounds and enhance exchange inbusiness education.

       Dr.Robert Wright extended his gratitude and said that he was pleased tomeet with GCU leaders. He introduced that Wright Graduate Universityfocuses on transformational leadership and coaching and works closelywith the finance, architecture, education industries to cultivateoutstanding business leaders and entrepreneurs by innovative andapplication-oriented leadership courses. The university plans todevelop online transformational leadership courses so that the impactand application of the courses will be expanded.

 

       Bothuniversities further discussed details of transformational leadershipcourses. Prof. Ying Lin commented that leadership education is animportant element in student’s self-growth and career development.She expects to see the promotion of such innovative courses combinedwith distant learning.

 

Visitto International Business School

 

       Aheadof the meeting, the delegation was guided a tour in campus includingthe International Business School, School of Management and theEconomics & Management Experimental Center. Business students’job placements, postgraduate admissions and the team-based simulationclassrooms have impressed the delegates.

 

       GCUwas first granted the IACBE accreditation to 4 business programs in2018 — International Economics & Trade, BusinessAdministration, Marketing, Accounting. In May 2019, School ofManagement obtained accreditation for all its programs, withFinancial Management, Human Resource Management, E-commerce added.The business programs of International Business School were alsoaccredited in August 2019 — International Economics & Trade(International & Bilingual Programs), Accounting (International &Bilingual Programs), making the total number of GCU accreditedprograms reaching 11. In addition, GCU Executive Vice PresidentProfessor Zhixin Zeng was appointed the Vice President for the IACBEAsian Regional Assembly in April 2019.

 

       Internationalaccreditation is not only an important measure to continuousadvancement of academic quality and program development, but also aplatform for international exchange and cooperation. GCU has activelyparticipated in IACBE events, worked closely with the IACBE, andengaged in interaction with IACBE members and also institutionsinterested in joining in business accreditation home and abroad toshare good practices in business education and explore exchange andcooperation possibilities.
